Yankees lose to Rays 4-2

John Salvatore

At least there’s no video evidence that this game happened.

The Yankees offense put runs across in the 2nd and 6th inning, with RBIs from Austin Romine and Ronald Torreyes. Pitchers were in control all game until a 4 spot in the top of the 9th gave the Tampa Bay Rays the victory.

David Hale got the start for the Yankees, pitching 3 scoreless innings and striking out 5 batters. Tommy Kahnle, Chad Green, and Dellin Betances combined for 5 more scoreless innings.

The Rays managed only 1 extra base hit through the first 8 innings. That would change in the 9th, as Adam Warren couldn’t solve the Rays hitters. Warren gave up 5 of the 6 Rays hits, including a 3 run homerun to David Rodriguez, and a solo shot to Carlos Gomez.

The Yankees will look to get the bats going again this morning against the Detroit Tigers.
