The Yankees’ offense was back on track Sunday as they beat the Miami Marlins 8-5.

Leadoff batter Brett Gardner opened the game with a single. Greg Bird hit his first homerun of the spring, a towering monster shot to right field. Bird has looked more comfortable at the plate recently, hitting a double on Saturday.

Neil Walker continued the scoring in the first, hitting in Gary Sanchez, and Didi Gregorius. After the first inning, the Yankees led 4-0.

In the third inning, Gary Sanchez hit a solo shot for his fourth homerun of the spring.

Luis Severino started for the Yankees, giving up 3ER in 5IP while striking out seven. Jonathan Holder struck out five batters in 1.2 innings, while giving up two hits and one earned run. The Yankees pitchers combined for 15 strikeouts on the day, and only walked one batter.

The Yankees take on Tampa Bay this evening.
