Thairo Estrada starts 2018 as the 9th ranked prospect in the Yankees system. At age 21, Estrada is already playing in AA, 3 years younger than the average player there. Estrada put up solid numbers in 2017 for AA Trenton, batting .301 with 19 doubles 4 triples and 6 homeruns. He followed that up with a solid showing in the Arizona Fall League, making the all-prospect team for the Scottsdale Scorpions. In 20 AFL games, Estrada hit .342 while only making 2 errors playing at shortstop. Unluckily, Estrada was shot in the right hip in January of 2017 during an attempted robbery in his homeland Venezuela. Fortunately, he is expected to play the full season in 2018. Estrada is primarily a shortstop, but has seen time at both 2nd base and 3rd base. Look for Estrada to start the 2018 season in Scranton, as he looks to improve further on his defensive play.
