Domingo Acevedo is ranked the number 10 prospect by Baseball America coming into 2018, is closing in on the major leagues. In 2017, Acevedo put up a 4.57 era in 41 innings in A advanced, but it seems like something clicked for him once he got called up to AA Trenton. In 79.1 innings in Trenton, Acevedo struck out 82 batters and was averaging only 1.93 BB/9. Acevedo’s walk totals will increase slightly as he moves up and faces better hitters, but it’s great to see. According to Baseball America in 2017, Acevedo has the best change-up in the Yankees’ farm system. After dominating the first half of the 2017 season at AA Trenton, Acevedo started a couple games in AAA Scranton. This year he’ll likely start the season in Scranton, and if all goes well, he could find himself getting called up to the big squad in September.
